Privacy Policy

Lalioo (“we”, “us”, “our”) is building a language-learning product. This policy explains what personal data we collect through our early-access waitlist, why we collect it, who processes it, and the rights you have. We are based in Estonia and process your data in the European Union.
Who is responsible
Lalioo is not yet registered as a legal entity. Until it is, Carlos Bentes and Bruna Freitas, who operate Lalioo, are jointly the data controllers for the personal data described in this policy. What we collect
- Your email address.
- Basic signup context: which form you used (e.g. the top or bottom of the page) and minimal technical metadata needed to operate the signup.
- Optional survey answers, if you choose to share them after confirming: the language you’re learning, your level, the tools you currently use, and two free-text questions about your frustrations and motivation.
We do not ask for your name or any other personal details. Please don’t include personal information in the free-text survey answers.
Why we collect it
We use your email address solely to:
- notify you when the app becomes available, and
- occasionally share early-access updates, prototypes, and short surveys.
We will not use your email for any other purpose. If you share optional survey answers, we use them only to understand what to build first. We do not sell your data or share it for anyone else’s marketing.
Legal basis
We rely on your consent. When you join the waitlist we send a confirmation email and only add you to the list once you click the link — a “double opt-in”. You can withdraw your consent at any time (see Your rights).
Cookies and tracking
We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising. Our product analytics (PostHog) runs in a cookieless, in-memory mode and does not store identifiers on your device, and the confirmation flow does not keep you logged in. In short: joining the waitlist doesn’t leave tracking cookies behind.
Who processes your data
We use a small number of trusted providers to run the waitlist on our behalf:
- Supabase — database and authentication (sends the confirmation email). EU region.
- PostHog — privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics. EU (EU Cloud).
- Fly.io — website hosting and delivery, served from the EU.
- An email delivery provider — to send confirmation and update emails.
These providers act as processors under data-processing agreements and only handle your data to provide their service to us.
Like any website, our hosting infrastructure may transiently process technical data (such as your IP address) in server request logs in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We don’t use this data to identify or profile you.
Where your data is stored
Your data is stored in the European Union.
How long we keep it
- If you confirm your email, we keep it until you ask us to remove it, or until the product launches and the waitlist is retired.
- If you don’t confirm, we automatically delete your unconfirmed entry after 30 days.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Erasure — ask us to delete your data and remove you from the waitlist (“right to be forgotten”).
- Portability — receive the data you gave us in a portable, machine-readable format.
- Withdraw consent / unsubscribe — opt out at any time, self-serve, via our unsubscribe page.
- Object to or restrict our processing of your data.
- Complain to your local data protection authority if you believe we’ve mishandled your data.

Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product develops. When we do, we’ll revise the “last updated” date at the top of this page.
